Chargers make Helldivers 2’s major order tough. Stop them!
The Helldivers 2 community is currently engaged in a fierce battle against a major order that demands they eliminate 750 million Terminids and 500 thousand Bile Titans. As of now, players have made significant progress but are facing challenges from a particular bug type – the Chargers.

Terminids are relatively easy for players to deal with in Helldivers 2 missions. However, the Chargers, the heavily armored tanks of the Terminid army, pose a major threat. They chase players down, ram them when they’re stationary, and disrupt everyone’s plans. With the current major order emphasizing Terminid missions, players are expressing their frustrations with these behemoths and sharing strategies to overcome them.
Death to all Chargers
Fans on the Helldivers 2 subreddit are sharing a lot of frustration regarding Chargers, especially as many players are focused on Terminid missions. A post by Sad-Needleworker-590 encapsulates many of the issues I’ve encountered.
Chargers have no business climbing vertical cliffs, especially when we’ve witnessed them fall off. Additionally, they are extremely powerful, capable of destroying weapon emplacements like machine guns. Unless a teammate can assist in taking them out before they reach you, you often have to retreat before the ensuing explosion.
Instead of simply complaining about Chargers, user Unoriginal_Burner shared a strategy for dealing with them. They demonstrated how the Aurburst Rocket Launcher, a heavy weapon Stratagem that can be called down during missions, can effectively take out a Charger before it gets close. This weapon can be lethal if not used properly, but in this case, it is crucial for defeating the biggest obstacle in killing Terminids in Helldivers 2, making it an essential Stratagem for the current major order.
Chargers weren’t as significant a problem in Helldivers 2 until the Escalation of Freedom update changed the way fire damage works in the game. Since then, the flamethrower, which was previously the most effective weapon against Chargers, has become less effective, giving Chargers an advantage in missions on Helldiver and the new Super Helldive difficulty.
Considering that players have managed to destroy 100 million Terminids in just 3 hours in the past, the current major order shouldn’t pose too much of a challenge. Players have the entire weekend to complete it, and this typically leads to a significant increase in player numbers. My only concern with the major order is that it’s more of the same as Arrowhead Game Studios still hasn’t addressed the exploits hackers use to disrupt other objective types the developer could be setting for us.
